AFGHANISTAN INSTITUTE OF CULTURAL HERITAGE AND TOURISM STUDIES(AICTS)
Afghanistan Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism studies is the only
institute of its academic nature, which was registered in 1388 (2009) with
Ministry of cultural and information. It is the first Institute of its nature in
Afghanistan encompassing activities of cultural heritage and ravel and tourism
studies in its curriculum. The curriculum of the institute will be certified by
the faculty of social sciences of Kabul University and will be inline with the
curriculum of international universities and study centers.
The institute will register the 12th class graduate in the field of culture
heritage and tourism and will provide them training for two consecutive years.
The students will be tested according to the requirement of HE (higher
education) and passing criteria will be 75% marks in the final exams in each
study subject.
The student after qualifying the 2nd year of their exams will be awarded 14th
grade certificate (Shahadat Nama) and they will be eligible to join the 3rd year
(5th semester) of the Kabul university faculty of social science.
MOU WITH KABUL UNIVERSITY AND FUTURE COORDINATION:
A MOU with the University of Kabul has already been signed, in which Kabul
University agreed to enroll the institute students after their completion of two
years study with the AICTS. The MOU also provide the mechanism for future
coordination between Kabul University and the institute.
The institute and the Kabul University also agreed to provide technical support
to each other in some areas, which is needed, to any party of the MOU.
The institute will be working in complete harmonization with the management of
the Kabul University. The curriculum will be according to the HE (Higher
Education) requirement and will be approved from the Kabul faculty of social
science . After finalizing its student for the regular class, the institute will
share the list of the enrolled student with the Kabul University. All these
actions will be taken to synchronize the activities with the universities
activities.
ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF THE INSTITUTE:
One of the big advantage of the institute is its capable, professional and
highly qualified founder team .Being an experienced team it is well capable to
implement an education and capacity building project of any magnitude.
Institute will develop three boards to manage and control the internal and
external activities of the institute.
1 Academic Board
2. Administration Board
3. Board of External Relations
and Liaison.
Academic board
The Academic Board will consist of 16 members. The board members will be
independent and will change regularly (every three years).
Tasks of academic board
1. Academic board will prepare short and long term
strategic plans for the development of the institution.
2. Academic board will prepare and arrange and
facilitate academic programs like curriculum development, arrangement of
seminars, workshop, short and long term trainings and monitoring the follow up
activities.
3. Academic board will arrange six monthly and
annual meetings of the institution and will takes necessary decisions in the
meeting with mutual consent.
4. Academic board will plan for the curriculum
development of the institution at international standard and will take practical
steps for its implementation.
5. Academic board plays a role of co ordination
between the institution and other organizations in the academic issues.
6. Academic board will meet twice a year and if
necessary it can call an emergency meeting to decide urgent and strategic issues
of the institute.
7. In the period between its annual and six
monthly meetings, Academic board will hand over its authority to a sub
committee, to cope the routine issues of the institute.
8. A member of the Academic board can leave the
board by giving a three months prior notice to the board chairman.
9. The Academic Board can terminate a membership
of a board member if he is not following the constitution of the institute.

BOARD OF EXTERNAL RELATIONS AND LIAISON
Purpose of the Board
The board will be involved in the representing the institute in national and
international forum. They will develop good relationship with the national and
international stakeholders specially with the government official, travel and
tourism industry and international donor organizations. The board will
coordinate with the international universities and will seek their assistance in
the technical issues, especially in developing the standards for the heritage
and tourism studies and conducting special consultancies in Afghanistan.
The board will be responsible to create a good image of the institute in the
government floor and in international forums. The board member will also design
strategies to place the institute graduates in a unique position and ensure
their proper utilization in the national economy.
